Tides of Fate is a documentary feature film about the 34th America’s Cup held in the San Francisco Bay between the Oracle Team USA and the Emirates Team New Zealand. The Oracle Team USA had to win the last eight races to come from behind and win the trophy in 2013. Incredible!
I was fortunate to record and conduct my score for the film, “Tides of Fate” with a 70-piece orchestra at “the holy grail” of sound stages, The Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage, at Sony. So many of the greatest film scores were recorded there; The Wizard of Oz, Lawrence of Arabia, Gone With the Wind – just to name a few. It was a truly magical experience to fulfill one of my life-long dreams.
Sailing has always been a huge part of my life; as much as composing and it’s as close to my heart has the latter. So being able to be on this project that incorporates both is a dream come true. And who can beat getting paid to write music while looking at amazing sailboats, good-looking sailors and beautiful San Francisco. Need I say more…?
I want to thank the incredible musicians that were a part of this super-gratifying project. Working with legends like YOU is one of the best parts about being a composer! I am truly grateful for them and everyone else that was involved. Lastly, I would like to thank Larry and David Ellison bringing me onto this remarkable project, I cannot wait to work with the both of you again!
